Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers regarding quotations, timeframes, quality standards, and site requirements.

What is the primary difference between Level 4 and Level 5 finishes? ▾

A Level 4 finish is the standard residential benchmark where flat or low-sheen paint is used under non-critical diffuse lighting. Fasteners and joint tape are covered with three compound coats and sanded smooth.

A Level 5 finish adds an additional complete skim coat over the entire plasterboard wall or ceiling area. This equalizes texture and absorption between paper and compound, preventing "joint banding" in rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass or direct glancing light.

How long does GIB stopping take for a typical 3-bedroom home? ▾

For an average 3-bedroom residential home (approx. 150-180 m²), stopping generally takes 4 to 7 working days. This timeframe allows proper drying between base coats, second coat, finishing coat, and the final dustless sanding pass.

Which geographic locations in the Bay of Plenty do you service? ▾

Our primary workshop and team operate from Bellevue, Tauranga. We service the entire Western Bay of Plenty, including Tauranga Central, Bellevue, Otumoetai, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Bethlehem, Omokoroa, and Te Puke.

Are your quotes fixed or subject to unexpected price increases? ▾

Our quotes are provided as detailed fixed-price proposals based on architectural plan measurements or an on-site physical inspection. Any scope adjustments (such as repairing framing faults or upgrading to Level 5) are discussed and formally agreed upon prior to execution.
